Seems to me that a guy who votes the conservative way 80%+ of the time is far preferable to a guy who votes the conservative way 20%- of the time. What do I know - it takes a certain myopia to consider McCain an enemy.

Then color me myopic, mainly because of his horrible Second Amendment voting record. He earns an "F minus," the lowest possible score, from Gun Owners of America, which leads me to give him the same score.

To answer the question about why we in Arizona keep electing him, you have to watch the local campaign. During his last election, there wasn't one. I don't recall seeing a single TV commercial either for him or for his opponent. No Republican opposed him in the primary election. It looks like the state Republican party machinery is keeping any potential primary opponents out of the running. So basically the only way we can vote against McCain is to vote FOR a Democrat, and I won't do that.

The question posed isn't whethero r not you (or anyone) doesn't have a disagreement with McCain on any given issue. The question is, if it was McCain vs Hilly, ACU 80 vs ACU 9, who would get your vote.

Not voting for a person who is in your camp 80% of the time in a close race helps the person who is in your camp 9% of the time win.

If you can't see that in that case, McCain gets the vote as the preferable (if not perfect) candidate between the two, then you are oficially colored myopic. ;-)
