MIAMI - The family of a severely brain-damaged woman who died after her feeding tube was removed in March said Friday they still have not been told where her remains will be laid to rest.

Terri Schiavo's parents and siblings, who waged a lengthy court battle over her end-of-life wishes, said on Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" show that her husband is keeping her remains from them.

"They were supposed to tell us, and we still have not heard from ... Michael Schiavo where Terri's been laid," said Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "Our family expected this. Michael has disobeyed court orders throughout the ordeal and continues to do so today."

Michael Schiavo is under court order to notify the Schindlers of his plans for a memorial service. He has had his wife cremated and has said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania.

George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, did not immediately return a call Friday night seeking comment.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order. She suffered brain damage in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop.

She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.

The Schindlers, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible

NO, there was no dispute amongst people who actually knew her situation. The dispute was among those with an agenda. She was in the best of care and for the first five years she had beyond the best of care and rehabilitation. But nothing worked. She had swallowing therapy..and it failed. Don't hold your breath. When the medical examiner refused to allow an independent observer, it became obvious this would be another cover-up. There was nothing unusual about a request for an independent observer. That's just a common courtesy. It's unheard of for a medical examiner to refuse such a request.

You are the one that stated that God would DEMAND his people to do something to stop a situation like Terri's from happening. I was just pointing out that God never promised his people the "right" to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There is no scripture that I am aware of that tells Christians everywhere to rise up and protect each others earthly lives.
But since you think God would DEMAND we not allow helpless PVS people to be starved to death, I must ask. Where were you? I was glued to FNC during the whole ordeal. I never saw you leading the radical Christian charge to storm the Hospice and save Terri. Guess God is pretty disappointed in you:(

BykrBayb, do you disagree with me? God cares for us but where did he ever say that we wouldn't have to face an earthly death. If your soul is right with God there is nothing that a Christian has to fear of death.
In my wayyyy off topic discussion with sawdust, I have been arguing about his statement in post 163 that if someone is being judicially murdered, God would demand that laws be ignored to save said life. I disagree based on what I have read in the Bible. There are several examples of people being falsely accused and martyred and God did not send a host to save them.

For an old codger like me with bad eyesight and a left shoulder that doesn't work right my "storming" days are long past. However, there are a lot of young bucks in the conservative movement who should have seen this as a golden opportunity not just to save a woman who PROBABLY WAS NOT PVS BUT HAD MINIMAL CONSCIOUSNESS, but also to free the nation from judicial tyranny. Rescuing Terri from her killers would be tantamount to our movement FINALLY spitting in the face of judicial tyrants who wish to enslave us, just as surely as the Communists once did. What did the young men of our movement do: They just sat back and did nothing (or pray, a usually hopless move, I am sad to say). Our enemies, from liberals and leftists to Islamic fundamentalists see our movement and our people as paper tigers now. BTW Okie, why don't you just come out and admit that you are a culture of death advocate. I'll bet you are in favor of partial birth abortion too. Admit it. The truth shall set you free. :-)

The problem is not the on and off switch...the problem is we have a culture that can put up with filth and not care that it's coming across the airwaves where innocent kids can see it. We've become numb to filth and now we accept it. It didn't take being a "Jesus freak" at one time for people to recognize immorality when they saw it.

I am not an advocate of death. I am decidedly pro-life when it comes to abortion. I didn't support either side of the Terri debate. Who was Terri Shiavo to me? I didn't know her from Adam. I don't want a perfect stranger trying to tell me how and when I will die so I extended her the same courtesy. It is a family matter.
I am however sorry for her and her family. It was a really sad situation. But all of us are heading to an appointment with death, so that is not really the part I find saddest. I am sad that a family has been torn apart and that Terri had to die in a media circus frenzy. I believe what John Wayne said in The Shootist. "A man's death should be one of the most private things in his whole life, and he should be able to face it on his terms." I do not purport to know whether Terri would have wanted to live in the state she was in. I can't think that she would have wanted to die as the main attraction of a political\judicial carnival, which caused much grief and hatred among her family and friends. But as I said earlier, I didn't know her.
I have taken something from the tragedy however. I have spoken to all of my family about my wishes if I were in a similar situation. My wife has done the same. But if down the road some of my family decides to go against my wishes and they can't let me go, I have very emphatically insisted that I am not to be fought over in the courts and over the various forms of media. That would be much worse than merely dieing in my estimation. The person who can't give me up will get direct custody of me and I will move in with them, for them to take care of my every need. That is what I believe Michael should have done rather than fighting for so long in court to kill Terri.

No, you did not. You sat back and watched her murder. She was not killed because she was dying. She was killed because she wasn't dying. We all had a choice to do the right thing or the wrong thing. Instead of trying to come up with an excuse good enough to fool God, it would be a good idea to repent and change your ways. I'll pray for you.

If you can show me one scripture that tells Christians to go unto all the world saving the lives of the people who were being unjustly put to death, I will be on the front pew repenting on Sunday. Death is our just reward for our sin. What difference does it make if we are martyred or if we die at the age of 110 real peaceful like in our own bed at home? The judgment still awaits.
Now if you want to accuse me of not taking advantage of every opportunity afforded me by God to share the gospel, I plead guilty. I most definitely should strive to reach souls for God because that is what matters. Not how long our life on earth was or how we came to our demise.
Oh and you say I chose to do the wrong thing by doing nothing. Just curious, but what did you do to save Terri? Write your congressman? Post some messages on an Internet board? Symbolically carry a cup of water past the police line? A mummers fart worth of good any of that did her. Terri and God await us all in the day of judgment. I'll take my chances with God judging me with Christ's blood covering my sins over your judgment of me and my inaction.

All the Terri crap. It was nobody's business to start with, and now it's sure as hell not our business. America isn't some psycho commune where people get to stick their noses in others private lives!

Nothing is "private" once it hits a courtroom. Then it's a matter of public record. Schiavo sued for millions after Terri collapsed, got it, and then enlisted the courts to make sure she died as soon as possible shortly thereafter. Schiavo crossed over into the public domain, where anyone can grab anything that isn't sealed by a judge.

I don't know you, but I tend to think that you aren't so stupid you would let someone you love dearly die so you could spare strangers the inconvenience of knowing something about your "private life." The Schindlers sacrificed everything to give their daughter a chance to recover -- their money, their lives, their privacy, some would say their dignity. And you, whose life has not been severely affected by their pain, refer to their struggle as "crap."

Then again, maybe you're right. Maybe it was nobody's business what was happening to Terri. Maybe all of us should keep everything to ourselves. In fact, we all can contribute to a society where everyone just minds their own business.

Why don't you set an example for us all, and keep your opinions to yourself?

If I were in your shoes I would say something about Matt. 25:42, or about Jesus saying to love thy neighbor as thyself. Comon, I know you can do it.
