Schiavos Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are (Schindlers Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are)

MIAMI - The family of a severely brain-damaged woman who died after her feeding tube was removed in March said Friday they still have not been told where her remains will be laid to rest.

Terri Schiavo's parents and siblings, who waged a lengthy court battle over her end-of-life wishes, said on Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" show that her husband is keeping her remains from them.

"They were supposed to tell us, and we still have not heard from ... Michael Schiavo where Terri's been laid," said Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "Our family expected this. Michael has disobeyed court orders throughout the ordeal and continues to do so today."

Michael Schiavo is under court order to notify the Schindlers of his plans for a memorial service. He has had his wife cremated and has said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania.

George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, did not immediately return a call Friday night seeking comment.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order. She suffered brain damage in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop.

She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.

The Schindlers, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible

This site was developed to allow discussion of news articles with others, not always of like mindedness. Many of these articles are none of our "personal" business, but will affect someone close to us in the future. I choose to keep involved in this issue because it may eventually affect one of my children or grandchildren.

If you don't care to be involved, then let go of your other arm (the one you twisted to force it to click on the link).

I thought that he was going to bury them in his familie's cemetary plot. I wouldn't think that would be too hard to find.

Micheal needs to be held accountable to court orders.

What court orders?

so whatever happened to the autopsy report?

Maybe it went the way of the Rose Law Firm papers! Not a 'shred' of evidence will be left.

I love how they always fail to mention it's because she was bulimic.

If we ever get to see the autopsy report, it might be able to confirm your theory, and then again it might confirm that she wasn't. :)

Her family brought the story to the public and that made it the public's business.

Perhaps you are on the wrong thread, troll!

What court orders?

By court order, he must disclose the location of the burial site to Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and inform them of any memorial service he plans.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/04/national/main685274.shtml

But, if doesn't have a plan to bury the remains, he has no duty to inform. I assume the following hypotehtical exchange is fully legal:

Schiavo: We plan to bury her remains at an undisclosed location on our property in Pennsylvania.

Court: You are ordered to disclose your burial plans to the Schindlers.

Schiavo: We now plan to scatter her ashes rather than bury them.

Court: Before us is an allegation that you have violated the court's order to disclose burial plans. What say you?

Schiavo: We have no burial plans.

Court: We can't help but conclude that you have not violated the terms of the order. Case dismissed.

Thanks, after I posted that I saw the reference to a court order.

But, if doesn't have a plan to bury the remains, he has no duty to inform.

I agree.

so whatever happened to the autopsy report?

It's only been five weeks and they said minimum of six before results would be available.

Have the Schindlers filed a complaint that the order has not been followed?

How would the judge be able to act unless or until someone legal action brings the matter before him?

So, again, you are telling us to "shut up about Terri".

Cut the crap. I never told you to "shut up" about anything. I do think it would be helpful if you found a way to communicate your own viewpoint without insulting people whose viewpoint differs.

Fair enough. That's my point. People got sick of all this and walked away from the forum because all the nasty talk created hostility, while going nowhere and doing nothing.

It was an eye opener.

Well, that is positive, "one small step for a man," although at the cost of some members leaving the forum in disgust at the hsotility. One hopes we can learn from and about each other in the future with less acrimony.

Again, what could we have done to save Terri?

Trust me, I share the frustration of being powerless in the situation. I did nothing because there was nothing basically that could have been done. This mess was locked up in the state system of courts and lawyers and armed men with police badges. The US Congress couldn't do anything so what was there for us to do? Nada.

The issue I address today is that instead of drawing together in our powerlessness to avert a tragedy and a travesty, many here fell to bickering and bitchslapping and it even continues in a couple posts on this present thread. How sad.

And - the total fault of the hostility falls on the Terri supporters? What about the Michael supporters?

You are right - it is very sad.

But - that does not mean we say nothing because "the main, important people here disagree".

And - notice just who was told to get off these threads - not a Terri supporter.

Where were the honored defenders of right when we needed them in the outrage of the injustices being done to Terri. Not our fault that they turned on us.

Veronica, I agree with you on your opinions. Michael Schiavo was awarded a nice sum of money to pay for Terry's care, and after receiving the money--he stopped the care. Unlike some, I don't consider this 'none of our business'. If no one cares when there are acts of injustice or crimes committed, what do you get or deserve? More acts of injustice and crime!!

They chose to leave for greener pastures. Possibly with other Michael supporters that want the option of free murder, that want to do away with the useless eaters in society.

It is good that the differences in viewpoint came out. Apparently, they felt they did not need to defend their viewpoint.

Who knows?

Maybe we will get a few people that do not believe in killing the weak. Think that would be great!

Those whose desire was to save Terri Schiavo from those who were killing her were united in that imperitive.

Don't blame them for the actions of those who dogged their steps.

We can't have someone make a decision that flies in our face and stops our ability to make accusations.
