Proof that Google is increasingly undergoing preferential linkages to Democrats was discovered this morning. Why is FreeRepublic not linked by Google News, but the "Democratic Underground Website" is? Just curious as to why we don't make 'news', but they do.
If you do a search this morning on Google News on God Darwin Schools, you'll find 'Darwin's Lament', an utterly vapid discourse that is not worth even reading. But I have never seen Google New link to us...
I don't know why -- but I'm going to start going to Yahoo.
Free Republic is Evil... we are Evil...BWaahahahaahaha
With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to small-pox. Thus the weak members of civilised societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. (Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, 2nd edition, New York, A L. Burt Co., 1874, p. 171)
Google is very good in many aspects, however their "gmail" I don't like, because it uses ActiveX. ActiveX scripting is turned off on my computer, because there are so many spywares on almost any website. Otherwise I like Google. I do not use Google to find the news though. I come here! :)
From a genetic view, he's correct, isn't he? (disclaimer: i got a c in high school biology!)
What if I don't see my favorite news source in Google News?
We're as shocked as you are! If we're missing a publisher that we should be covering, please send us your ideas. While we can't guarantee that we'll heed your recommendation, but we do promise to review all the suggestions we receive without regard to political viewpoint or ideology.
I work for a news organization. Who can answer my questions regarding our news content and the Google News service?
Please contact us. We're pleased to work with individual publishers to ensure their content is appropriately represented in Google News.
I never use google anymore. I'm using www.clusty.com and www.alexa.com. Both are fine search engines. I hope fellow Freepers will post their ideas also.
Excuse me, but the passage you quote from Darwin has exactly the opposite meaning from your interpretation above. Darwin is simply saying that those sub-groups of man facing the most environmental challenges will evolve faster, because the weaker members are killed off. This has ZIP to do with "inferior races"--and indeed has nothing to do with "race" at all, and is a simple statement of "survival of the fittest" as it applies to humanity.
Look Warty, I quoted Darwin exactly - he said "Inferior Races"

If another search engine company would follow the Fox News "Fair and Balanced" model, I think they could make a bundle of money challenging the Google juggernaut.
I think you're absolutely right. The more light shown on that little nut house of the left, the better.
The problem with Google is that their news generation process don't distinguish between opinion and news. Invariably, you will see an editorial opinion as a headliner in their news section.
One I saw before the 2004 election was particularly twisted to the left. I sent them an email about it. They said, sorry, that's the way our algorithms work. They could easily change their "algorithms" to eliminate editorials from posted news, but, of course, they don't. That tells ya something about who runs the print media.
"I prefer normal people to be logged in here when I check in."
LOL!! Normal people are pretty hard to find ... it sure is what keeps me coming back here!!
