This is a bad rap any way you slice it. If Bush doesn't hammer down on immigration, the media will continue these stories that say the country wants it done. And if he does hammer down, the media will do stories everyday on those cold heartless, racist republicans, and it will sway enough hispanics to never vote republican. It is an issue to be dealt with. But I fear it may cripple the republican party either way they go. The media will frame the opinions. It is truly sad.

In the old days, before the new media, I would agree with you that the Republicans will come out badly no matter which side of this issue they choose. But look what happened in the last election, even with the MSM blasting away at Bush and Co. nonstop. I think the Republicans will self-destruct if they are too wimpy to take a stance. And it will be well-deserved, IMO.

It feels very strange and creepy to be agreeing with the Democrat base on this. I feel the need for a 3rd party...
