Don't know if you're aware of it, but the background in that picture really is one of Saddam's bathrooms.

I had the pleasure of "visiting" one not too long ago.

Al-Libbi was trying to destroy the notebook when he was apprehended, multiple sources said.

Retard. Unless he took a sledge hammer or large size rock to it, the data is recoverable. Even then it would have been tough to smash the hard drive beyond recovery since the laptop would buffer the blows.

Did not know that. Gold trim is a big hint though.

<< ***I enjoyed the early news reports on this capture. First reports had him denying that he was an al Qaeda member. Later reports were that "after a few hours in custody" he confessed his position. I wonder if they put panties on his head or a dog collar around his neck.***

I heard that they finally broke him by showing him nude photographs of Janet Reno .... <<

..... and threatening him with transfer to Israel for continued "debriefing!"

<< I wouldn't. They could have used nude photos of Helen Thomas for all we know.

Now that's inhumane. We have to draw the line somewhere. >>

Relax.

Helen's an Arab.

Looking at her pic just makes them homesick.

U.S. officials are working feverishly to decipher numbers and apparent codes in a notebook retrieved from suspected al Qaeda leader Abu Faraj al-Libbi, ABC News has learned.

How stupid are the US officials to tell this to reporters? Why not tell them he destroyed it.

This stuff makes me sick. Lives are being lost because of incompetence like this.

Not only is it most likely that intelligence is planting this material in the alphabet press, but even here at FR, we may be faux-claiming horror at this news with the strategy that it helps the bad guys presume the story is valid...

That phrase, 'time and place of his chosing"...goes back to Bush speeches..hmmm. Are we sure it was the Pakistanis that got this guy. I think our guys got him and we give Musharef the credit so he appears strong. Which is ok by me.
