With such jackasses for leadership at that school, who blames the kid for using some bad language.

The problem is that there are a lot of jackasses running Public School Systems. Zero tolerance is a joke! My son's school has one of the biggest idiot's in the State running his school! Real Gestapo (sp?)! Only 6 more weeks and he graduates! Hooray! Last kid too!
It is indeed outrageous. His father has already been killed, and that could have been the last conversation with his mother - and this is the memory they have possibly created. These people have serious problems.
