There was an editorial in the WSJ this morning about this issue. The man who resigned from the Volker commission, is being represented by Lanny Davis. If that doesn't send up a red flag for you nothing will. The only ones who benefit from demeaning the Volker report are those who are the target of the investigation. The report is due to be completed in August and secrecy is of the utmost importance to ensure that witnesses continue to feel free to talk. Be very careful what you demand in this investigation because the accusations could be a big red herring, thrown out to distract from the ultimate goal.

I have mixed feelings about Davis. The man is an opportunist first so I'm sure he would lobby hard to represent a high profile client. Secondly, if the information is as damning as some suggest, I'd rather have a known Democrat representing this guy than a known Republican. We don't need another player being accused, by virtue of his political affiliation or leanings, of trying to destroy the UN.
