Since the Governor's veto of last session's Republican property tax freeze, combined county and school tax levies jumped $404.2 million.

Go, Scott Walker! He is the only chance to save this state. Doyle, vetoing voter ID legislation supported by nearly two-thirds of the state legislature. Doyle, vetoing conceal and carry legislation and missing an override of the veto by one vote! We need to get that guy out of office. And to top all that, raising taxes like a ... well, like a Democrat.

Thank you, Sen. Zien and quiettolong. This ought to be required reading for every Racine Unified School District taxpayer (who just underwent a 7.7% increase from the schools this past year - ping).

Thank you for posting the tax map! Very interesting. Everyone should note that you can be in a county with a low overall increase, yet still be socked with a huge increase because of your individual municipality. Note Mequon and Thiensville -- both in Ozaukee county with a joint school district. Thiensville went up 1% and Mequon went up 14.5%.
Just because Ozaukee County over all had a lower tax increase than some areas, doesn't mean that your individual tax increase will be lower.
