One man, Robert J. Galliher, claims in a court deposition that Jim West molested him in the mid-1970s when he was a boy and West was a Spokane County sheriff's deputy and Boy Scout leader.
A second man, Michael G. Grant Jr., also accuses West of sexual abuse during the same era, including an incident at Camp Cowles, a Boy Scout camp on Diamond Lake.

I'm from here, although not in the city.....
the one thing that bugs me the most is the city has been thru about 4 mayors now over the last few years, and there has been a long, drawn out fight with the owners of the Spokesman-Review.....
the owners.....Cowles family....were accused of skirting the law to get big bucks from the city....the case will cost the taxpapers many, many millions for years to come.....
there was somekind of settlement just a week or two ago....
the Review , being slave to their owners....have under-reported and reported slanted stories about the owners......
now, after the settlement, they come out with this block-buster, which they have been "working " on for two years....
just goes to prove that when you've got the gold, you rule......nobody stands in your way....
my dtr worked at the Gop headquarters last year off and on, and there was this mighty fine looking young man who was in town from Seattle......of course, Jim West supposedly "put him up" at his apartment......makes you wonder, doesn't it......

My aunt had a cabin directly across thge lake from Camp Cowles for many years. It's sickening to think that kind of crap was going on over there.
This freak has put a stain on the city of Spokane that's going to take a LOT to get out.
"As Spokane mayor, West threatened to veto a measure extending benefits to domestic partners of city employees. But the City Council approved the measure by a 5-2 vote, enough to override a mayoral veto."
Perhaps he KNEW the vote would swing that way, and voted against as a 'red herring'.

I resent the press using the term pedophile to disguise the activities of predatory homosexuals, who seem to favor teens. An 18 year old girl is not a child, but an 8 year old is. These homosexuals (most of the priests) favor teenagers, not pre-pubescent children. That does not make them more or less despicable. Anyone who uses his or her position to exploit another should be fed to hungry (but slow eating) rats, in my opinion.

I think West should resign, just for using city computers to do his bidding, and Cherie Rodgers should be elected mayor....

I am dumbfounded. How in the world did this guy get elected mayor?! I've been to Spokane and it's not that big. My experience has always been that rumors travel fast through a small city. How did he manage to keep this under wraps for so long when so many people now seem to have known about his predilection all along?
