Theodore Roosevelt
"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

"Roosevelt in the Kansas City Star", 149 May 7, 1918

Quite a few here would agree w/ Chris Cannon, unfortunately.

Chris Cannon is no patriotic American. At best, he has vested interests.

IMO, It is Bush who should reconsider identifying himself as a Republican. Allowing illegals free reign in this Country while taxpayers provide them with all their needs is exactly what a liberal democrat would do....for votes.

It's time to let Cannon know that the majority of American people DO want to boot illegal aliens.

When 9/11 made Dubya an infallible deity.

Screw Cannon.

The debate began with a third panelist, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., denouncing unnamed people he said were exploiting the immigration issue because of bigotry, hatred and prejudice. "If not for the undocumented workers in this country, I'd say that this room would not have been as clean and well-organized this morning," Gutierrez said.

This guy ought to be rung up.....

I moved to OK a few years ago....there are plenty of white/black people cleaning rooms here.

The point is...white/black people WILL clean rooms for a living....and they do.

When Karl Rove took over. I have said it several times, and I mean it -- Rove is luckier than he has ever been good.

Who wrote that headline? After reading the text of the article, it seems to me Tancredo was dealing the heat, not being the recipient of it! And if Cannon is sympatico with Gutierrez, why is he implicating that the one who is misplaced in the GOP is Tancredo?

"I think he ought to consider his views and decide whether they're consistent with the Republican Party," Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah

Cannon will be cannon-fodder when the next election rolls around. I will do ads pro-bono for any major candidates who wish to challenge him in the primary.
