a demotion, especially at that level is devastating.

To retire as a bird colonel is not so devastating. It won't even cost her that much money. She is a reserve, remember.

The real issue is that since she is a reserve office, no one in the "real" army would have trusted her, and someone else would have all of the real authority . They did not want to give her the opportunity of a trial to be able to call witnesses to testify.

As I see it, the only person that should have received any sort of reprimand or punishment was the idiot that sent the photos home...

maybe not the only, but definitely a big one. The NY Post ran a couple of articles when this story broke last year. Apparently one of the females involved came from a family in which the father was a pathologist or coroner and the mother had a hobby of looking at pictures of dead bodies. I can imagine that female really thought she had the laugher of all time with the pictures she sent home. What a pathetic thing to do. I have always wondered why we haven't heard more about her. Perhaps she comes from a family with money and got a big time lawyer.

Whew!! Do I detect a touch of misogyny here? The prisoners were there because they had been captured while firing upon Americans or setting explosives. Not stealing
candy bars. The men in the pyramid had gang raped and killed a young boy. The photos, requested by MALE MI folks, were to be used to soften up the other prisoners, who had vital information. This was the purpose of having the MI there, collecting information. This is war, and we really can't be concerned with the enemy's feelings. Oh, and it was common practice to have the prisoners naked. They were naked before Karpinsky arrived.
Just curious, but why are you so concerned with muslim prisoners? Could it be you are muslim? Or just a loony liberal?

The way I see it if the President thinks it was not OK then it was not OK.

janis deserves to be peunished becasue the MPs fell under her brigade and I agree with Tommy, that she should take responsibility and she has.

She has made an important point that has been lost in her abrasive confrontational attitude.
The MPs at the time of these occasions were under the command of the MI. The MIs were directing the interrogation!!

Apart from that unless she was standing there, there was no way she could have known what was going on, unless her commanders let her know.
and here's where the weakness shows.
Gen Miller has not been held responsible and neither has Gen. Wodjakowski who allocated janis her mission and which he acknowledged her brigade wasn't equipped for should shoulder the blame with her.
