He was a good Army Officer, cared about his men. Wonder why he was in Mexico for treatment?

Most likely Mexico because they'll do risky things with advanced cancer that the FDA prohibits. Many people head south when their American doctors tell them that all treatment options have been exhausted.

Not uncommon. He was getting treatment that Americans were unwilling to perform.

"cared about his men"

That must have been before he became a commentator on TV.

Because he could not get the treatment here, I am sure. Years ago I had a boss, who had all the money in the world. He caught cancer and him and his family and friends went around the world looking for a miracle treatment. He of course never found it and he died in some flee bag cancer center in Europe. Desperate people do desperate things.

People often do so as a last ditch effort after American doctors have done all they are allowed to do. Mexico has numerous clinics offering alternative (unproven) treatments.

My Aunt went to mexico for cancer treatments years ago. She died anyway, of course, but my Uncle was one of those health-food nuts who thought peach-pit treatments (remember Layatrille, or whatever it was?)

As far as Hackworth, well, RIP. I can't say I thought well of him in the last few years.

probably because the treatment he was undergoing, to try and save his life, was not allowed by the drug lords her in the USA. Steve McQueen went down and died there, for the same kind of thing.

FDA does not allow alternative treatments, though they do help, SOME people.

Tijuana is where the alternative cancer treatment clinics are. He may have gone to one.

No doubt they were desperate and out of existing conventional medical options. Remember Steve McQueen?

Probably getting the Hoxsey Cancer Treatment at the Bio-Medical Institute in Tijuana. Although there are other similar centers in Tijuana and elsewhere in Mexico.

Probably for the same reason so many cancer patients go to Mexico. A last ditch effort to find a cure.

My nephew took his wife all over the USA and then to Mexico, trying for anything to cure her cancer. It's sad. There are so many clinics in Mexico who make all these promises that they have a miracle cure.

An employee in Texas had two wisdom teeth to be extracted. Average costs in the U.S. was $2400 in mexico the same proceedure was $40.00. Guess where the teeth got pulled.

Like everything in our world it all comes down to money. Guess it hits all of us now and then. The shame is it does not have to be so.

Probably didn't want to do the chemo crap they give you here. They may have been treating him with diet and supplements, etc.
