U.S. Tentatively Names Hardliner as N.K. Rights Point Man

Officials connected with the North Korean human rights movement said Thursday the U.S. has tentatively decided to name former White House domestic policy advisor and noted neocon Jay Lefkowitz as special envoy for human rights in North Korea.

The special envoy will be tasked with making and execution of U.S. policy concerning North Korean human rights in an ambassador-level position created when the North Korean Human Rights Act went into effect in October.

The U.S. had put off naming an envoy for the last six months to avoid provoking North Korea, but analysts believe the naming of a neoconservative at this juncture shows Washington is no longer prepared to tread softly now that tensions over Pyongyang's nuclear program are approaching crisis level.

Lefkowitz, a lawyer by trade, served as deputy executive secretary of the Domestic Policy Council, director of Cabinet affairs and U.S. representative to the UN Human Rights Commission, and is known to have the trust of the current president.

You do realize that first the Norkies, over a year ago, said essentially (we ain't talking to Bush because he may be out in a year's time).

Now that Bush won, they are saying 'we ain't talkin' for more FOUR YEARS', until they can get at least a quisling President Hillary Clinton.

Of course we know that that such a piss-poor NK regime cannot last four more years if they are effectively suffocated and shut off. Of course, this explains their provocative, zero sum, 'what's their to lose?' moves of recent. They see the end of the game I am sure.

If the dude would just be a man, and take his gold bars & dancing girls, and go to Cuba, unceremoniously picking up his Zurich/Geneva money on the way, think of all the lives that might be saved. But no. (Looks like) he's pride-fully in it till he gets a US bunker buster right in the face.
