If you were happily using Panther yesterday, Tiger will not cause anything you were doing to suddenly stop working.
This is not necessarily the case.
After installing 10.4 my Canon i950 printer resolutely refused to print at more than 25% scale regardless of the fact that it was supposed to be one of the printers which Tiger supports.
It took a couple of days and several hours on the phone with tech support before I got it to print properly.
FYI
bump for later
I don't care for all the new features - it's the under-the-hood improvements that I love.
Hi, quid, I have an i950. What did you have to do?
Tiger also does not play well with Cisco's VPN encryption. Hard to say how this comments on other "undocumented features" that are yet to be found. Seems a little buggy.
BUMP
For the Mac list...
Go the the "Printer Setup Utility" and delete any printers listed.
Open the "Macintosh HD" and delete the "Printers" folder in the computer's general "Library" folder and the preference "com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist" in the "Preferences" folder inside your personal user folder.
Go to the Canon web site, go to the i950's page and download and install the updated driver #1.9.4 (after installation the computer will have to be restarted).
If you access the Canon site with Safari be sure to turn off the popup-blocking feature or you won't be able to see it!
Open the "Printer Setup Utility" and select "Add Printer".
The i9540 should be listed in "Bounjour" (which was "Rendevous" in previous OS versions).
The rest should be intuitive.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Any time an operating system is updated incompatibilities with applications written for previous OS's crop up.

This was announced before the release - that a fix was a month or two out.
Yup. We're gonna have to hold off on upgrades until then at my company. We sorta depend on the Cisco VPN.
Tiger has been nothing but a PitA for me so far. Here's hoping 10.4.1 cleans house.
I always wait until, at least, the '10.n.1'-version comes out. I've no intention to ever pay to be a 'gamma tester'.
just got mine in mail today...and just installed. i'm so computer illiterate, it probably won't make a lick of difference. well, it was only $9.95 for me.
So how many widgets do you have ??????? I just got the TV Tuner, It's Great!
