Funny thing is, years later Cotton Mather introduced inoculation against small pox to American -- one of his slaves had taught him about it.
His inoculation plan was protested by those who thought that inoculation was defying the will of God. During the protests, Mather's house was firebombed.
Why am I not surprised?
