I question it too, mostly because there is no way that 55% of New Jersey voters support gay marriage (I mean, Bush got like 46% in NJ in 2004, so it's not exactly Massachusetts). Maybe Zogby (who was getting paid by a gay group to conduct the poll) asked the question as "do you think same-sex couples should be able to seek legal recognition of their union?" (which will always get more support than asking about gay marriage per se). Or maybe the poll question said "do you support gay marriage, or do you believe that gays should be drawn and quartered?"
