Hi, and welcome back. When you didn't post after the lunch, I seriously wondered if you were snooping around here to tattle on us to the CDC...;-D
Then, it occurred to me--so what? Let the CDC know what we've been able to glean, just from information readily available on the internet, and who knows? Perhaps we can make a contribution to the effort against this dreadful outbreak.
God knows, we would be glad to help in any way we could. Primarily, we are interested in informing ourselves, but certainly we all would be happy to contribute anything we could.
The lack of readily available, accurate information regarding this strain of Marburg is definitely information, in and of itself.
It is either a new strain of heightened lethality that arose in nature, or it is a weaponized strain designed to be 100% fatal. In my mind, either is equally possible.
One thing is for sure--it isn't the same Marburg as the first known outbreak.

Could be both.
Excuse my lay ignorance but has any natural strain of a disease ever evidenced 100% [or this close to it] mortality in an outbreak of this duration?
Glad to be back again :-)

Have no fears that would never happen :-) as I said in the past I am something of a rabble rouser myself :-)
I have been given.... "guidelines" for my contributions here, as a result of the faculty head looking at this website. I cannot for instance mention my place of work or academic institution in any posts on this forum *sigh*
"The lack of readily available, accurate information regarding this strain of Marburg is definitely information, in and of itself. "
yes i agree Judith 100%. I think the silence is indicative of the fact that this is a unique outbreak, and that this Marburg strain is also unique (a given). It means that this Marburg strain becomes more deadly than Ebola. It means that data concerning research of this strain is simply not completed yet. It also means that health and care workers underestimated the preventative measures required to remain uninfected, that is also significant, is this version much more robust because it is airborne? are the revised morbidity and mortality indications of that? I wonder.....
