the lesson to be learned from 2000 is that they sat home because of a 30 year old DUI conviction. yes, I agree with you that its "small potatoes" in he scope of things, but the point is that it affected their vote. small things can affect alot of votes, and we need those votes, so why antagonize those people?

And most of us in the GOP are sick to death of being held hostage by a bunch of unreasonable judgmental pricks.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: let 'em leave.
I'd guess that it actually improved the poll numbers of the First Lady and the President. At the very worst, this was comedy somewhat tamer than Leno or Letterman, and their viewers vote, too.
But this wasn't about votes. It was about being silly and poking fun at ourselves.
If anyone refuses to vote for Republicans because of this 2 minute comedy routine they have serious reality issues.
