FULLERTON Debate over a billboard that has inflamed emotions on both sides of the immigration issue on Monday reached into Fullerton, where protesters masked part of the controversial sign there with a U.S. flag.
The billboard for KRCA/62's Spanish-language news program reads "Los Angeles, CA" - with "CA" crossed out and replaced with "Mexico."
The flag protest heightens antagonism about the long-simmering issue, which was spotlighted after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger lauded "Minuteman" volunteers last week for patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border.

Awesome!
I think the liberals need to understand something: "Los Angeles, California, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"
THE U.S. FLAG

Over the weekend, an unknown group climbed the billboard at the intersection of State College and Orangethorpe in Fullerton and covered the word "MEXICO" with an American flag. Photos of the billboard have been posted - and praised - on at least two Web sites that focus on illegal immigration. |
YES!!!
A mad citizenry is exactly what's needed.

Ads fan flames of immigration debate
Protesters doctor controversial billboards, drawing further ire.
The Orange County Register
It's the talk of talk radio.
Some say it crystallizes the debate over immigration, while others call it an annoying distraction that oversimplifies the real issues.
Billboards across Los Angeles and Orange counties for a Spanish-language newscast read "Los Angeles, CA" with California marked out so that it declares "Los Angeles, Mexico."
About 75 billboards have gone up to promote KRCA-TV/62 since mid-April, prompting arguments about the ad's intention.
The debate grew Monday when word spread that protesters covered the "Mexico" part of the controversial sign with an American flag in Fullerton, at Orangethorpe Avenue and State College Boulevard. ......................snip.................

UNFLAGGING ISSUE: U.S. flag was draped on a KRCA-TV/62 ad in Fullerton. Bruce Chambers, The Orange County Register |
Our country will not be invaded. We will not tolerate a Mexican "Conquista" (spelling?).
We need massive, powerful lights all along the border for illumination at night. I know this would be very expensive but I think it would be worth it and effective.
Old Glory BUMP!!!!!
Link not working??
Armstrong and Getty, our morning drive time guys on KNEW 910, believe that the LA billboard is the tipping point where the silent majority come to drive sane borders and real enforcement of immigration laws, not to mention, official English. I pray that they are correct.
I'd say KRCA has gotten it's money's worth on this advertising campaign. Whoever came up with this controversial idea should get a raise.
As the Reconquistas become more and more obvious, blatant, and arrogant, that may indeed be their downfall.
It's being invaded.
"The idea was to give pride to the 6.8 million documented Hispanic immigrants living in the Los Angeles area: to say this is your home; be proud."
