I am thanking my teachers, including my 10th grade Algebra II teacher who made everyone laugh their way into enjoying quadratic equations and Pre-Calculus, or at least some of us. :)
He also discussed the sorry state of education saying that he believed that public education was set up completely wrong from the beginning, not dissimilar to John Taylor Gatto's writings.
Here's a thought about today's teachers and maybe it will work. If we thank them, they might try to live up to deserving the appreciation. Can't hurt for one day.
Thank you also to
Also thanks to Mr. Y, my Jr. High principal who scared kids with that big wooden paddle which I suspect he never used, but kept it handy and all of us safe.
Thanks to Mr. F. who lifted all of our spirits up by being honest, straight and no nonsense.
There isn't a single institution that has done more to directly harm this country than the NEA. They have done their level best to take away our last weapon in the fight against tyranny,... the knowledge that it's being committed. They have consistently and substantially done all they could to subordinate the well being of our children for the sake of picking the taxpayers pockets. They have fought every attempt at making the education system accountable or competitive, and have embraced every ridiculous new fashion so long as it meant there was more slop in the trough or someone new to blame for their lack of performance.
I know there are good teachers out there and no one should be more angry about this than them, but they stand by silently, setting a typical example.
It's my personal opinion that any member of the NEA (or AFT in NY) should be deeply ashamed of themselves.
They aren't welcome in my home.
