You turned your brilliant switch off, huh?
We can't change anything if we can't win anything. We win when we convince the middleground we are not (all) whackjobs. When we do, collectively, win, the whackjob needlebutts come out of the woodwork to negate the gains. Isn't there a Christian Party, or some other organization you can degrade and ridicule by your participation?
I say again, needlebutts are as bad as liberals, just one of 'em favors a fatherland while the other favors a motherland.

Unfortunately, your type of thinking is why the GOP is infested with RINOs. A case in point is Arlen Spector (RINO, Scotland). Had the President and Senator Rick Santorum stuck to their principles and supported the pro-life, conservative candidate, Pat Toomey, we would have two conservative Senators from a Northeastern state today, instead of one conservative (Santorum) and one liberal (Spector). If Santorum was electable, running as a conservative in a heavily union state with a big city cesspool like Philadelphia, Toomey could have been elected.
Unfortunately, Bush and Santorum panicked. Bush's moderation in this matter did not carry over into a win in the Keystone State for his re-election. Spector will be a thorn in the side of conservatives for another five and one half years. So much for compromise for its own sake.
