C-SPAN's New Interview Series
Every Sunday night on Q&A, we introduce you to interesting people who are making things happen in politics, the media, education, and science & technology in hour-long conversations about their lives and their work.
The show airs at 8pm & 11pm ET on C-SPAN each week, every week of the year. But if you miss a program, you can catch up on previously aired shows on this web site. Either stream the video at any time convenient to you, or read the accompanying transcript. Also, you can do a keyword search against all the transcripts to find topics of interest to you.
They JUST NOW put up the transcript at http://www.qanda.org ;

I watched most of it earlier this evening--Mr. Krauthammer is one of the most fascinating columnists that we have right now---
He made it clear in this interview that he doesn't write to please anyone--and he admits that after he writes a column, he might never get any e-mails in response, that he has no idea how people feel about them...
But, he did say that when he wrote the column giving "The Passion of Christ" movie a negative review, he was deluged with e-mails and calls...
BTW, he is asked about his faith and he gives a pretty lengthy, interesting description of his "faith" or lack thereof.
I won't expound further for those that want to watch it, but it is a really good interview.
I caught the parts where he referred to his growth from being a Henry ("Scoop") Jackson Democrat, verrry strong on national defense, to being a sort of neoconservative who called for regime changes in the middle east even BEFORE GWB made the pitch to take on Iraq. Krauty said the purpose was to defuse the boiling cauldron of discontent over there -- conditions which spawned terrorism in the first place, NOT to find WMDs.

Yes, I noticed back when Bush was going before the UN, Krauthammer was saying that he should place emphasis on changing the "tone" of the Middle East...
He is the very first person that I have ever heard say the same thing about the "bad thing about dying", as I have always had...that when you die, you miss seeing what happens. That has always been the "fear" of death for me, that I will miss things that I am looking forward to...
I keep finding reasons to pay the overpriced cable company more money.
I love Charles Krauthammer. I caught the last 15 minutes and will tape the rest if I remember.
Even when I don't agree with him... and I don't on the stem cell thing... I always have the feeling that he's so dang smart, I must be wrong.
Most interesting discussion of his views on religion - said atheism is really the most implausible of all religious beliefs - "it has to explain how the universe invented itself, and that doesn't work" - said basically he didn't think he believed in God, but he is afraid of of Him - thoughtful and thoughtprovoking......
Yes, Krauthammer is totally unique. I don't believe there's anyone in the world who agrees with everything he thinks, but he speaks and writes with such lucidity he leaves me spellbound. He comes up with insights and perspectives that are not only novel, but more sensible than most others I'd have heard of before. He REALLY DOESN'T care what anyone else thinks (he doesn't just think liberty--he LIVES it!), yet a lot of what he thinks makes sense to me (and what a relief that is -- to me).
...and then every once in awhile he'll say something as ridiculous as I...
With regards to his views on stem cells all I have to say is, we'll never know if we don't try.
"Brian, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell all FReeper Bang_List members how sorry I am that I said things that were pro-gun control in the past and that I have seen the error of my ways and now realize the Bang_List guys are right and that JBTs are indeed a damned threat to our liberty!"
He does that and he's redeemed.
OTOH, Ebert defended the movie, and couldn't figure out all the charges of antisemitism.
Thank you thank you for putting up that link - I saw the original program last week and enjoyed it very much, as I like Mr. K. and how his brain sorts out things in a clear fashion (for me anyway). I now have my own copy thanks to you.
I had toyed with getting the transcript from CSPAN but they charge an arm and a leg... although the one I ordered on Arnaud de Borchgrave being interviewed by Brian Lamb is a treasure and I play it often.
You're certainly welcome. You can now view the Krauthammer interview online at http://www.qanda.org/Program/?ProgramID=1021
