But, among major Muslim and Arab-American groups, Ergun Mehmet Caner is viewed as insensitive and hostile - someone who has damaged relations between Christianity and Islam in this country. Memo to the AP:
TERRORISM damaged any "relations" we may have desired with the "religion of peace."

Something about this guy does not sit well with me? And after reading some of his crazy statements in this article, I am filled with more unease about him. I sense danger from this guy. I hope I am wrong, but time will tell.

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any
other faith
but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of
scripture, should be the highest authority in America,
and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
This was the sentiment of Omar M. Ahmad, the
Chairman of the Board of the Council on
American-Islamic Relations or CAIR.

Go with your first thoughts "Something about this guy does not sit well with me? And after reading some of his crazy statements in this article, I am filled with more unease about him. I sense danger from this guy."

Where can I find this quotation? Thanks.

I can completely understand why CAIR and many Muslims would be angry and/or threatened by someone like Caner who has trusted Christ.

I am filled with more unease about himRead his book "Unveiling Islam". He's a real Christian who is trying to help us understand Islam so that we can fulfill the Great Commission.

Thanks for the link to the newspaper article that published this.
CAIR has contacted 3rd parties to deny saying this, but they did not contact the paper for a retraction, and the reporter and editor have announced they stand by the story.

But the incident that brought the greatest attention occurred when a former Southern Baptist Convention president, the Rev. Jerry Vines, told a meeting of Baptist pastors that
"Islam was founded by Muhammad, a demon-possessed pedophile who had 12 wives - and his last one was a 9-year-old girl."
PC VERSION
"What I did say was that Muhammad, at age 50, did marry a 6-year-old and the marriage was consummated when she was 9 years old," Caner says.

As Islam is a sham adaptation of the Judeo-Christian Bible (that acknowledges the existence of Jesus yet denies the divinity, the crucifixtion, and the resurrection).
Mohammed was the "last prophet" so there can be no reformation of Islam. Taking infidel as sex slaves will always be legal under Islam. Their distinctions under the law between a muslim, a Jew or a Christian, and "everybody else" will always be there as well.
The only reformation for muslims must occur at a personal level. They must wake up and reject the ravings of an ancient child-fornicating warrior. His defenders do raise up that he waited 2 years before consumating the marriage. They must find their personal reformation by rejecting the rewritten text and "returning" to the Old and or New Testaments of the Bible (either as Jews or Christians).

I have a wonderful Christian friend who risked his life by converting from Islam in the '90's. Now he's a minister. Superb human being. Still uses an assumed name.

Sir, sense danger from the Wahabbi extremists who want us all dead. Sense danger from the Islamofascists who especially want renegades like Mr. Caner dead. I've spoken to Turks; they are less lockstep about Islam than Arab Muslims. Turks will remind you that Asia Minor (modern Turkey) was the cradle of western Christianity. Mr. Caner is a maverick, but he's a brave maverick. No assumed names here. And just who do these "maintream Islamic groups" think they are, like CAIR, dictating to non-muslims just who we can and cannot associate with?
Tell CAIR to stick it!

I've heard this guy and his borther speak on TV. Very powerful stuff. I like this guy.
Also, there was an article (might have been posted earlier) about a muslim woman from Canada who has written a scathing indictment of Islam. Basically, she blames Islam's faults on Arab culture, that is, the Arab culture (such as it is) which constitutes about 20% of all Muslims has infected Islam with ideas like subjagating women, war, hate for infidels, dhimmitude, etc. Oh, and she's also a lesbian.
Since it is impermissable to "leave" Islam (those who do are fair game for the whack jobs), I would guess that Mr. Caner keeps a little added security.

I was driving home from work in Kuwait and tuned into an English speaking station (not too many other options) and heard a Muslim professor talking. He was discussing good energy and bad energy and how good energy relieved stress.
"Now imagine yourself as a Shepherd in the midst of a herd of sheep. Everyone loves sheep, they are so cute gentle and peaceful animals and they make you feel good. And you want to hug one because the good energy from the sheep gives you peace of mind and you feel good.
Now if your in the midst of a herd of camels...don't do that."
Just thought I'd throw that in for stress relief.

Inspirational...great article, epecially on this day Of Holy Easter (Orthodox Christians).
There is hope that Turks will one day return to the faith of their ancestors in Anatolia: Christianity.
