That's why I'm teaching my children to habla Espanol.
I've refused to learn Spanish myself and won't allow my son to take it in high school either. However, it has backfired, since he now wants to take French! I don't know which would be more anti-U.S.

It's just a matter of utility. I'd want them to learn Russian, Chinese, Arabic etc, depending on where we lived. In the USA today, Spanish makes the most sense.
