Shortly before the plane touched down at 9 p.m. in Atlanta, a flight attendant handed out a written statement from the Wilbanks family to the media that said: "She has spoken to her fiance. He cannot wait to see her. She says the wedding is not called off, just postponed."

Even airheads need husbands.

Dont yall get it,,,Brides aren't perfect. Even a flawed, insecure, jittery, runaway bride needs a husband. If we had to be perfect to get a husband, we would all be in nunneries or on the streets.

God love him, but if he marries her, he deserves all the madness that will entail. I can understand where he is coming from, I have been in a similar situation, though the police weren't involved. Nonetheless, he is a fool if he goes through with it. I didn't, and I am a better person for it.

It's simple enough. He should have known already that she was an airhead, and yet he was willing to marry her anyway. Apparently, he doesn't care.

The only question he's considering now is whether she really wants to marry him.

You can be certain of that.

Yeah, now he can get himself onto ALL the tv talk shows for fawning interviews..... and then they'll create a "reality tv show" around his experience..... a new kind of "Bachelor" show for him..... he'll have his pick of the eager panting babes......

YUCK, what has our culture come to?????

If he has any common sense at all, though, he'll be running fast and far to get away from this loony lady. If he goes forward with this marriage then he's as big a nut as she is.

Men seem to love bitchy, crazy, dependent women. The marriage will endure. Might not be happy for both of them though.

I am wondering, however, that the media statement that the wedding was "postponed" was just a "PC" statement to wave off anymore media questions for now. I feel that John's feelings about this aren't as good as we may be led to think on the surface.

Bingo, brilliant point. He loves her airheadedness. Actually he is an airhead too. She doesn't want to marry him really but she is 32 and frankly the good men get picked off early. So she is "settling" for him,,he is tall, has family money and a good pedigree and is just dumb enough for her to run circles around him, get forgiven and be supported.

They are perfect for each other if not in the eyes of the world. You don't have to be perfect to need a husband and vice versa.

"Personally, I think it would be better for this guy to marry her than anyone else. I think I'd have been able to figure out before now that she was an airhead..."

Presuming, as you say, that Mason has figured out Wilbanks is an airhead, how then is "it better for this guy to marry her than anyone else"? You may be Brilliant, but I do not follow this logic since it makes no sense to me. Care to explain?

I was assuming that the screen name was an oxymoron - like calling a bald guy curly...

Sadly, this rather amusing tale is yet another microcosm of the Decline of the Empire. Self-absorbed brides, effete grooms, sycophantic preachers, bloodlusting media, etc.

I suspect he knew more than he's letting on. Why was he so afraid of a polygraph done by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation? And someone on TV said he had seen the bus ticket, which she bought a week before she disappeared.

Maybe the boy ain't too bright?

Move evidence for the "they're both in on it" theory.

I think she was knocking boots with someone else, got ridden hard and put away wet in Vegas, then wanted to come back home to the safe, stupid rich guy.

Thanks for posting this tidbit from the AJC. First time I've heard or read this. My, both Mason and Wilbanks must have incredibly large egos. Both must be saying, "It's all about me".

You are right. He is more than a half bob off plum.
