Thanks to Joe and Jane Republican - we are not listening to TAYreza but this beautiful (inside and out) First Lady instead.

She doesn't look like a desperate housewife to me. She looks pretty darned contented, if you know what I mean and I think you do. That glow comes from George.

Watched all of it from her interruption of Pres. Bush to the point where the 1st family left. She totally stole the evening. We know who runs that family and it's not GW.

She's a 1st Class Texas Lady.

If the big bad Hillary steps up in 2008 and appears to be doing well these types of events will allow the first lady to run against her and save the nation if need be.

News organizations hosted show business and sports stars such as Goldie Hawn, LL Cool J, Richard Gere, Jane Fonda and the starting quarterbacks of this year's Super Bowl, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Are any of these people W fans?

I'm going to have to put on my asbestos suit for this one, but if Hillary had made the same kind of jokes at a similar function Free Republic would be tearing her limb from limb right now.

I found Laura's jokes to lack class and lost a great deal of respect for the woman. To pander to the leftist media and depraved Hollywood scum by talking dirty is unfunny to me.

Let me do some analysis:

Mrs Bush joked that on a typical evening the president was asleep by 9pm, "and I'm watching Desperate Housewives".

Adultery is hilarious now? Isn't that what that trashy TV show Desperate Housewives is about?

The first lady went on to quip that one night she went out to Chippendales, a male strip bar, with Vice President Dick Cheney's wife Lynne, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and top Bush aide Karen Hughes. "I wouldn't even mention it, except (Supreme Court Justices) Ruth Ginsberg and Sandra Day O'Connor saw us there," she said. "I won't tell you what happened. But Lynn's secret service code name is now 'dollar bill'."

Joking about going to a male strip club is somehow classy? Shouldn't we be championing modesty and morality and not pretending that going to a strip club is somehow OK or funny and something other than shameful?

She also said her husband knew little about ranching when they bought their ranch in Crawford, Texas. "I'm proud of George. He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year, when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse," she said.

Somehow, having the First Lady making a joke that includes our President stroking a horse's penis in an attempt to cause it to ejaculate doesn't strike me as funny. It doesn't show any sort of class at all. It is sick.

Celebrity guests at the event included Hollywood actors Richard Gere and Jane Fonda and rap star LL Cool J.

Leftist media and depraved Hollywood types will never respect the President no matter how much pandering and dirty joking anyone does. Is Laura Bush going to try a "costume malfunction" at next year's event? I'm serious, I just lost a lot of respect for a woman that, until I read these jokes, I felt had a lot of class and character.

Flame away - I'll still be disgusted.

Darn, I missed George and Laura. I've had my head in the sand since dinner last night. The grandkids came over for the last pot of chili for the year. I hope it was the last and it is finally going to start warming up (north Alabama).

Anyone have a link to the speech?

You're so funny ping.

Read some of these posters' reactions to Laura's presentation. She was great!

Examples: "If you really want to end tyranny in the world you're going to have to stay up later."

But she said they obviously were destined to be together as a couple because "I was the librarian who spent 12 hours a day in library and yet somehow I met George."

***

LOL.

She'd undoubtedly be the best host ever, at the Academy Awards Show, or anyother phony Hollywood award show, honoring the "intellectuals" in Sewer Pit, CA.
