These work great for the US Navy, they should serve the new towers just as well.

All the new design says to me is, "We want you to think we are not afraid, just don't look at how small the tower really is." A spire, please - you can't spell UNINSPIRED without spire.

For incoming air-attacks fully computer/radar controlled "phalanx" fast-reaction, rapid-fire 20-millimeter gun systems at say 40 and 80 stories and roof, covering 360 degrees. Anything that doesn't "squawk 'friend'" within a certain perimeter (like police helicopters would) is destroyed. You realize the result of firing a hail of 20mm over the most densely populated area in the United States may be to kill as many people as another 9/11?

Don't think so. If the approach of the threat was as on 9/11, probably only falling debris and 20mm rounds would be problematic. Anyone not taking cover after multiple phalanx units begin their rapid-fire burps and destruction, deserves a bump-on-the-head.

I don't like the way the spire comes from the corner. If the spire were more smoothly fused into the top it might be good, but the current design seems dorky.
Also, while I don't think there would be much demand for elevated office space, I would think a few stories on the top containing an observation area and a fancy restaurant, hotel, or other such facilities (and maybe an apartment if some suitably-rich person wants one) could make the height much more practical. At minimum there should be personnel access for a communications room.

The objective of the trade center attack was to kill the maximum number of occupants. The percentage ratio of killed to a full building capacity was very low. We are talking a potential of 40-50,000 here, not 3,000.
