We've been conditioned not to handcuff and spank our children, or else Social Services comes along and rips little Jane or little Johnny out of our hands.
Little Jane and Johnny are all the worse for it too. Teachers were a fearsome bunch when I was in school. They commanded respect and didn't take any BS.
