A Georgia bride-to-be who vanished just days before her wedding turned up in New Mexico and fabricated a tale of abduction before admitting Saturday that she got cold feet and "needed some time alone," police said.

Jennifer Wilbanks, 32, had called her fiance from a pay phone late Friday and told him that she was kidnapped three days earlier while she was jogging, authorities said. But she soon recanted, according to police.

Really? Not her first stunt?

It was a comment I noticed by another FReeper. It doesn't show up on any news release, so now I need to track down the comment again and ask the FReeper about it.

I hope she winds up hocking all those dresses, her rings and everything else to compensate the police

I live in the city limits.

I'm sure my dinky house will have to be "reappraised" to help pay for this.

"He's a lucky guy--she's alive, and he's not married to her..." You left out the most important thing: HE'S NOT A SUSPECT.

As soon as they check more deeply into their background and declare the whole family religious fundamentalists who drove the girl to run away by their strict adherence to scripture, where the woman has no say and is subjugated to the man's every whim :-)

BUT glad she is NOT marrying my son.

I hope the photographers, caterers etc. got deposits.

But what the hell are the bridesmaids going to do with tacky dresses?

Have a tacky-dress yard sale? Rip 'em up and make those little scrubby things and sell them at a boutique? Tie up the runaway bride and force her to wear them?

Tie up the runaway bride and force her to wear them?

Maybe the $100,000 reward should go into an "all the folks who were screwed" fund.

Were I a Lothario looking for targets of opportunity, I would certainly pencil her in as a prospect in a year or so.

Thanks Diana. I came accross stupid myself too. This could have been a horrible situation, and turned out just to be a freaky woman, not man.

I'm a-walkin' in the rain,
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain,
Wishin' you were here by me,
To end this misery
And I wonder--
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder,
Why,
Why, why, why, why, why she ran away,
Yes, and I wonder,
A-where she will stay-ay,
My little runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
Run, run, run, run, runaway.

I think ABC just found their next "Bachelorette". So far, I have heard she will not face any criminal charges, but repaying the police for the money wasted for looking for her might be a good idea.

Engagement ring - $10,000
Wedding dress - $20,000
Huge wedding - $250,000
Finding out your fiancee is certifiable BEFORE you get married - priceless.
