Why? Are you so racist that you condemn a black man for honouring HIS Confederate ancestors?
Quit whining.
You live for this.
Don't-they-know-it's-moral-turpitude bump.
Guess why.
I feel sorry for that man, considering the real racists at the so-called 'Southern law center' are taking advantage of him in his apparent confusion.
So do most Americans. LOL
LOL, so true.
You RACIST BIGOT. Now you assert that a Southern black man is too stupid to know the truth about his ancestors or the part that Southern blacks played in the War of Northern Agression? You are disgusting slime ball, probably a member of the Klan, or a white supremacist group. H. K. Edgerton is a fine and honourable man, who walked thousands of miles (1409.7 to be exact) to educate people about their Confederate heritage.
Your position on blacks is the same of the Democrat party, that they are too ignorant, too stupid to even think for themselves, that they need someone like Jesse, Al Sharpton or YOU to tell them what to think. You disgust me. You owe Mr. Edgerton a PUBLIC apology.
"War of Northern Agression" You have me there I have no idea which war that was?
"You are disgusting slime ball, probably a member of the Klan, or a white supremacist group." The verminoids in the Klan are slime balls, I fully agree.
"H. K. Edgerton is a fine and honourable man, who walked thousands of miles (1409.7 to be exact)" I do not doubt the Mr. Edgerton is an hounourable man, but flying would be quicker. Maybe they should come up here to New York, Philly, Boston, Hartford, & other Northeastern cities. The reception would be headline news :)
How many other blacks out of the total American population would agree with Mr. Edgerton's views on this particular subject of supporting the southern pro-slaver cause? It's does not make any sense.
"Jesse & Al Sharpton" are con men which do not have the best interest of America.
"You disgust me" Others have said the very same concerning the Roberto Cavalli & Gian Franco Ferre suits. When you're right, you're right, or maybe it's the Pal Zileri ties, the Dalaco cuff-links? I don't know what the friggin problem is, after all, the same schleps saying these rotten things should look in the mirror prior to being seen in public themselves, never mind judging me on appearance. What nerve, right?
I would really like to speak with Mr. Edgerton in order to set him on the right course. He needs to be associating with a far better class of people.
Northern snobbery at it's best. LOL That man wouldn't waste any of his moments with the ignorant likes of you.
In your eyes if someone's views are not 100% in accordance with the 'neo-confederate' line of the hour they are attacked as the 'Yankee enemy'.
It's a free country allowing anyone to live in a self-inflicted fantisyland.
Wrong I very much love and Respect the American flag.
I also love and respect the flag that our Confederate ancestors fought and died under.
I don't have to hate one to love the other...neither do you.
BTW, Confederate history IS American history. I can't believe I had to bring that to your attention.
I am not going to bother re-quoting all the pro-slavery speeches from the Southern/Confederate politicians during the 1840's, 1850's & early 1860's, for what, you have seen these quotes and know them well, don't you?
How long do you believe you would be allowed to fly the same flag the kkk uses where I live? Let me inform you, about as long as waving a Nazi flag.
That's why I live in the Blessed South where I don't have to deal with idiot thugs like you who think they have a right to make any decisions for me and my house.
And once again you show total ignorance of the kkk and their flag of choice for many many of their hanging years.
BTW your bullying attitude wouldn't last very long down here. We'd learn you quick like and in a hurry.
I'm done talking with you so let me be.
You are going WAY to far there pard.
I fly my flag on special days, to honor my ancestors who fought. Not to honor slavery, not to intimidate blacks.
There is no doubt that some Confederate Leaders wanted slavery to continue. But not the average soldier. The ones that did the dying!
South Carolina's political leadership, the money men, who were interlinked with the slave/cotton trade ran a con job on the public getting them all worked up in order to trigger a civil war hoping England would side with them, since London firms were the primary customers for Southern grown cotton. The plan failed. Let's face it if the Confeds had won slavery would have gone for who knows how long. As a truely divided nation we would have been vulnerable to attacks from abroad as well.
It's not only the Civil War period it was the 100 years which came after as well, remembering which flag was flown by those burning churches & crosses. Think of it, what type of animal could burn down a church or a cross. The same mentality which torched shuls with people inside burning them alive. The same type which denied men which fought in both world wars the right to drink from the same bubbler, or sit in front of the bus. But you know if any of those in question needed a blood transfusion resulting from a German or a Jap bullet, all blood is red and was used to save lives.
For instance, especially toward the end of the war in Germany when the Nazis became so desperate, as the Allies closed in, little kids were forced to go to the front or be gunned down, as many were who became scared or simply refused to prolong the war.
The Nazis as we know had a organized system of slavery through forced labour for the purpose of monetary gain and extermination of a number of people on there elongated hate list. It is illegal to display the Nazi flag (1933-1945) because of the horror it reminds people of who suffered so from Norway to France, to Greece to Hungary & beyond.
Cubanos whom I know having escaped Castro's communist 'paradise' (some of their friends never made it) get very upset when anything communist is seen in public. If a Cubano traitor happens to the fool involved in displaying anything of a communist nature, forget about it, the bum better run and run fast.
We must proceed forward and not divide since the enemy out there now would love further division since all he wants to butcher every one us and he does not care about the Civil War as was clearly of horrifically demonstrated to all of us on 9-11 and everyday those bastard killers attack our men in Iraq & Afghanistan.
My Friend:
You have got to realize that to most people in the South, both black and white, that flag doesn't stand for slavery, or for racism. Now, if I flew the ANV Battle flag in Manhattan, well, that would be a different matter. If we are ever going to be a truly united nation, it must be based on mutual respect, and appreciation for each other's culture and beliefs. Please do NOT use the phrase Nazi & Confederate in the same sentence. So many proud descendants of the Confederate Soldier fought the Nazi's, and even flew the battle flag from their tanks! It is a slap in the face to those men, who like MY grandfather, (69th Inf Division) fought in WWII, but were proud of their roots.
One of my elderly friends who passed away in the early 1990's would retell his experience of being in the first company of GI's to enter one of the worst Nazi deaths camps in Germany. He was never the same needless to say. That was my purpose in bringing up that flag which flew over the death camp he liberated.
The issue of the Confederate Flag will most likely never be resolved since people not living in the South have one view on the matter, while in the South many but not all share another.
The view here would be the South had slavery, and fought to retain it something almost everyone considers an evil. Try and see the point from up here as well, although the Civil War is hardly an issue outside Southern states for the majority as you probable already know.
While people in New York most likely are more in tune with the Dutch history of early Manhattan then they would be with the Civil War era. Those in Chicago, Cleavland & Detroit all have localized historical focuses as any area. In Massachusetts & a lesser degree Rhode Island most members of the public are very aware of the history concerning the founding Pilgrims, along with Revolutionary War sites, it's local leaders, of which there were many. The public is surrounded by history but today so many walk right by it without any notice. Local history in the South would of course be more concerned with that regions historical events, it is normal.
I must say Americans in general are not as informed about their own history or geography as those in other nations, which is a shame. Geography as a separate subject is not even taught any longer, as far as I know.
Again, a case of white yankee telling black southerner how stooooopid he is. Are you sure you're really not Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson? And another case of yankees 'good', southerners are poor white trash.
