People are running from the Methodist church to cults, sects, whatever.

Been there before? What's it like? The CMA has had some good folks associated with it in the past, but one doesn't hear much of it today. Or maybe just not out here on the West Coast.

Me, too! I didn't even want to tithe to that church. Now I can and know that my money doesn't go to the NCC.

Main Stream Religion (MSR) just can't help itself as it closes the lid on it's own annihilation. At some point in the not so distant future, MSR will wonder how it all went wrong. They'll stop blaming the evangelicals and the non-denominationals and stare into the cavernous, empty space of their self-agrandizing cathedrals and wonder when they lost control.

Women and Gays - neither one is supported as a source of spiritual leadership in the Bible, but the Methodists manage to hit two nails with one shot - if only the lesbian was a transgender, they could have covered all the bases at once.

I was raised a Methodist. Today I am a Catholic. This is just one more example of why I made the correct choice. From gay lesbians in a church to gay priests in a church, good choice.

Everyday I rely more on scripture than I do the church and people.
Very wise. Anything beyond the Newt testament pattern of work and worship of the church delivered by the apostles is lawless speculation and presumption-- a "taking away and adding to" what the apostles "once delivered", that which was "complete to equip us for every good work."
Most churches today are an apostacy, with little true respect for the scriptures as the word of God.There are a few that do. But for the most part, a first century Christian would think our common use of the term "church" (Gr. 'Ekklesia')to be very strange. To him or her, a church was
not a building. Nor was it an organization with synods and councils and creeds and such. "Ekklesia" was an everyday term for a group of people-- even the mob at Derbe or Lystra was called an ekklesia. Christ's church, in the scriptures was His 'called out people."
Yes, they were told to assemble together. But they weren't authorized to create an organization other than the local, autonomous congregation, to work and worship as the apostles taught-- not according to what some central body thought would be a good idea. When we see the spread of immoral and corrupt doctrines among the Methodists and Episcopalians and other groups, we realize the divine wisdom of the biblical pattern. A true follower of Christ will look to him and his apostles and their teachings-- not some central council-- for what is acceptable to Him.

Anything beyond the Newt testament pattern
oops! That should be New Testament, and not a suggestion that Newt is the pattern for holiness. :)

I knew there was no hope left for the UMC after the thinly veiled pro-homosexual slogan "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors".
Not one penny of my money will go to the UMC, not one minute of my time will be spent inside their doors. Mainly because the UMC has financially supported pro-abortion causes.
How I'd like to go back to the UMC of my youth and ask the staff a few questions...

Yes, I have been to the church a few times. The Easter service was about how the resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of Christianity. He went on to say that Buddha did not rise from the dead, Mohammed did not rise from the dead, Jesus did.
The preacher at this church very much believes in the Bible as the truth.

AMIA is conservative (Anglican, 71 million members) The English Anglican church is very liberal. However, the African Anglicans are as conservative as Catholics.

Note: Another panel defrocked her. She just shopped for a panel that would be sympathetic to her. Unfortunately for her, the Methodist Church doctrines still consider her an outlaw. She's living on borrowed time.

Note
An appeals committee has reversed a clergy court verdict in the case of Irene Elizabeth ³Beth² Stroud. The Northeastern Jurisdiction Committee on Appeals announced its decision at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time today, after hearing Stroud¹s appeal April 28. Stroud lost her credentials as a United Methodist minister on Dec. 2 after a clergy trial, which stemmed from her acknowledgment that she is a practicing lesbian. The United Methodist Church¹s Book of Discipline forbids the ordination and appointment of ³self-avowed practicing homosexuals.² More information on the appeals committee¹s decision will follow this morning.

I brought this up to our minister last year when it made news and he said be prepared for a split in the UMC. The churches that are doing this are upper east and west coast. He said at the next conference you will see some aligning and leaving of the church.
The new "churches" will probably be sued if they try and use the name and flame/cross logo.
I said we'll see and I am waiting. If it does not happen I will be looking for a new church home unless I decide just to stay home and read the good book.
