BTW, I was never convinced that the Conservatives would beat the liberals despite the enthusiasm of the CDN freepers.
We were told for years and years the conservatives could never take power in this country. Don't trust your polls.
That's what they get for pandering to the disgruntled American liberals.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
It's simple. Many people do not want the government to waste money and time on an election. They see the Conservatives as being irresponsible, as trying to 'damage' the Canadian government by having an election. People think the Conservatives are being mean to the Liberals, who are being responsible by admitting there was corruption under Cretien. However, this is Paul Martin, who is not responsible for the scandal, therefore it is wrong to bring down the government. The Conservatives aren't being fair by targeting the Liberals, especially since they are offering the government that Canadians want like promoting the fairness of same sex marriage, the gun registry which keeps everyone safe, the national daycare initiative which helps reduce the subjugation of women as housewives, and the increase in immigration because, even though there aren't the jobs, Canada cannot be mean to families by hindering family unification, and if the Conservatives do get elected, they will not do everything possible, including breaking the law, in order to prevent the disaster of Quebec secession. The Liberals are all things to all people. the Conservatives would shove an intolerant, religously based agenda down everyone's throats and redcue peoples rights and government benefits.
I'm Canadian, too, and know how many people think and the above pretty much sums 95% of how my family, still in Canada, thinks.
If so, I'm disgusted at my fellow Canadians.
If the Liberals get back in, I bet Quebec separates.
Eventually, the voters will forgive and forget.
I hope my prediction is wrong.

Other than that, it is a pretty sad commentary on Canadians. I can't believe this country is so freaking wishy-washy and buying all this BS about the Conservatives have a hidden agenda and would impose "US style" health care in this country (while conveniently forgetting the current system is breaking down, mostly due to the huge cuts in funding by the federal Liberals - apparently the average person is incapable of remembering anything that happened more than a week ago). They seem to prefer a dysfunctional status-quo over any kind of change. Bunch of gutless wonders (Canadian voters, I mean). How bad do things have to get in this country before Canadians will take a bit of a chance and kick these bums out and put the only reasonable alternative in power? I have some doubts, too, about some of the things that the CPC might do, but the Liberals need to be kicked to the curb.
