'Miracle' needed to win back Senate
Washington times ^ | April 29, 2005 | Charles Hurt

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid raised a few eyebrows yesterday on the Senate floor when he said it would take a "miracle" for Democrats to win enough races next year to take back the Senate.

"I would like to think a miracle would happen and we would pick up five seats this time," he said during a floor debate over the filibusters of President Bush's judicial nominees. "I guess miracles never cease."

Republicans were delighted by what they called an "admission" from the highest-ranking elected Democrat in the country

"After listening to Senator Reid's political spin about judicial nominees for the last several weeks, it is good to hear him come back to reality -- if even for a brief moment," said Brian Nick, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. "Senator Reid can do the math: A Democratic Party, plus no ideas, plus obstruction, plus over-the-top partisan rhetoric equals continued minority."

Partisans on both sides of the aisle privately acknowledged that it was a fairly stunning remark.

A Democratic Senate majority isn't too much more likely than a filibuster-proof Republican one . . .

Add in the RINO's and it becomes a toss-up.

If you count RINOs, the RATS already have a majority.

I'm with you. They can crow all they want but the dems still control the Senate. If anyone doesn't think so show me where the republican leaders have actually led on something.

Republicans... democrats. Jackasses with different sized ears.

It would be an even bigger miracle if Senate Republicans suddenly grow a spine and some b@lls.

Never in my lifetime would I have ever found myself agreeing with anything Reid had to say. I guess the old proverb of "never say never" was right.

Yes, Christ Jesus coming on a white horse as in Revelation 6 and gathering His church, would indeed be a miricle and without us pesky Born Again Christians around, dingy, teddy, johnnie and susie and olympia would indeed control the senate.

Oh you say, susie and olympia aren't d's they're r's, yes, but, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, smells like a duck and swims like a duck, it is indeed a duck. susie and olympia smell like leftist US hating commies, they vote like US hating commies, and the talk like US hating commies, so regardless of their political lable, like dingy, teddy and johnnie, they are left wing US hating commie demorcrats.

Even a blind pig like "The Sage from Searchlight" can find a truffle of truth once in a while.

What difference does it make? Why would Reid and the scumbag dems need a majority? The Senate does what they want just the way it is. Frist and the Republicans are terrified of Fat Teddy and his thugs.

The dems block judges, prevent publication of the memos from their Judiciary Committee computer, pick the left wing legal staff for Sphincter's Judiciary Committee staff, black the appointment of Bolton and embarrass the government in doing so and force a game of patty-cake with Berger, the thief. If the dems had 80 Senators, what more could they do to damage the country?

It would be an even bigger miracle if Senate Republicans suddenly grow a spine and some b@lls.

If is really an eye opener to sit around with the media types and hear them laugh about how they play with what they call the feeble brains of the right wing idiots.

For example the Republicans put in a House rule in 1997 so they could charge Democrats with wrong doing and then if the House Ethics committee decided not to investigate the charges, the Democrat would still remain charged with wrong doing.

This year they decided to undo that rule. To make it more like a grand jury proceeding. Under the changed rule if the ethics committee decided not to even hear the case the accused would be cleared.

The Democrats demanded that the rule be put back to where it was put in 1997. That is strange because in 1997 the Democrats said the rule was only adopted to ruin the reputations of Democrats. Republicans finally did undo the 1997 change this year. But the Democrats needed an excuse to not hear the Delay case. They knew Delay had done nothing wrong.

The way to prevent Delay from being cleared was to find a reason not go to the committee set up meeting. At least one Democrat has to show up to even start the process of clearing Tom Delay. So the Democrats block investigating Delay by not showing up. They use a rule change they had demanded as the reason for not showing up. The media reported that as a failed Republican obstruction tactic to protect Delay. Of course the idiots on the right buy the Democrat and media spin hook, line, and sinker.

When the Republicans take away the reason for Democrats not allowing an investigation to clear Delay the media paints that as a Republican cave in.

Many people on the right believe every lie the media tells them about Republicans. They media loves that. Many people on the right can't even figure out that what they see or hear in the media is exactly what the media wants them to see and hear.

I just told you about the house... if you want to understand what is really happening in the Senate.. read this.

Click here for what is really happening in the Senate.

If you are a leftist the media paints you as a centrist hero. If you are on the right, the media paints you as a bumbling fool without the guts to do what should be done. Of course 99.99 percent of the public never fail to believe the media. That is what the media finds so funny. No matter what the leaders on the right say, the media only reports that part they want you to know.

The left can't win in a fair debate. So they always try to make the supporters on the right turn on their leaders. They think it so funny.. They like to talk about the dumb a$$ed right wings dummies who always fall for it.

Those who think the media has no reason to think people on the right are stupid dupes who are easliy fooled... Don't know what the media knows.

Lets hope it also means extinction.

Of course you're right about the media and their tactics. My goodness, what a lot of doom and gloom has been posted on this thread. I thought Reid's comments were very telling. I think it's amazing he actually said it and it got put into the press.

Not that 30% of Republican senators deserve their seats, the traitors. I wish we had enough good conservative opponents for them in the primaries, but a senate seat is apparently a life-time opportunity to sit around and do nothing term after term.
