I believe LBJ used the months and years after Nov 22, 1963 to escalate the conflict in Vietnam and to push Civil Rights legislation so Americans wouldn't 'look behind the curtain' to see what was to become the Warren Commission Report.

LBJ's problem was that he grew up dirt poor in the South. Like many of his era, he blamed his poverty on the Post Civil War destruction wrought on the South.
And he somewhat had a point. The restrictions on gun powder and lead and the ensuing up rising by the native tribes caused whole counties in Texas to be abandoned.
What better revenge than to put federal troops in a limited war with limited supplies?
