From what I've seen, none of these "most influential" lists ever have Rush on them.
Instead they have have movers and shakers such as Nicole Kidman and Hilary Swank.
If not for Rush, what would this country look like?

Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee listen to witnesses' testimony against one of President Bush's judicial nominees.
A former State Department employee testifies that Ambassador to the U.N nominee, John Bolton, once yelled at her. "He is not fit for the position!" she cried, while moaning "Help me! Somebody, please hep me!"

Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy have turned the Senate into a Branch Davidian compound. This might explain why Janet Reno was seen at a Miami Costco buying a case of matches.

I disagree with Mr. Henninger that a "price" has been paid in terms of a weakened political discourse. What happened is that, for the first time EVER in our lifetimes, the liberal mindset has been challenged, and they don't like it---and still haven't accepted it.
In a nutshell, the libs are still in DENIAL---they still haven't figured out they lost, nor are they willing to play by the rules where the losers accept the verdict of the voters. So rather than leaving the field, they are trying to tinker with the timekeeper (the filibuster), bribing or stacking the referees (judges), and running the old stall hoping the game doesn't end until they get back in power.
In other words, the system isn't broken at all: these PEOPLE are broken---they are liars, cheats, and frauds.
