Thank you. Why is so taboo to say that Sosh Security was a bad idea from the get-go? WHY is it so sacrosanct? Makes me hopping mad (and I have a bad knee!).
It is taboo because for the simple reason that all of us have relatives who lived on it and for some it was all they had like my in laws. My father in law's company went out of business, nobody got any pension and he was 63 years old. He and my mother in law lived on SS and her teacher's retirement. My grandfather lived on it, some 150 or so bucks a month. It was all he had and my parents were raising five children with no extra money. I think we forget how close to the line our grandparetns and some of our parents lived. They needed it and lived on it.
That is why it is taboo to talk about getting rid of it.
