TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Supreme Court says it won't consider an appeal from conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh. Today's four-to-three order didn't explain the court's reasoning.
Limbaugh's attorney argues that an appeals court misconstrued Florida law when it ruled prosecutors could review the records.
Prosecutors seized Limbaugh's medical records in 2003 for an investigation into whether he illegally purchased prescription painkillers.
Limbaugh hasn't been charged with any crime. He lost at the appellate court level and wanted the Florida Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that would open his medical records and possibly allow prosecutors to build a case against him.
Limbaugh has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation and argues that the case threatens the privacy rights of all Floridians.
Well, the Florida Supreme Court has just reinforced what has been talked about for weeks, acitivist judges--
They have just opened the doors to what I have always assumed was a person's sacred right to privacy---their medical records!
Lot's of informed people.
Why do uninformed people open a thread they're not interested in? That's the better question.
This *IS* breaking news.
Yep definitely!
Me too. My parents and sister live there. Too freekin HOT and HUUU-MID.
< Brilliant reply. Maybe your state's next? >
Sorry, we already have our share of incompetence. We have to put up with "Sheets" everyday. WV has been the butt of the country for years. Flori-duh has taken the heat off recently.
This precedent is going to affect ALL FLORIDIANS!
You can add TRAFFIC in there...it's almost as bad as NYCity now.
Frankly, I'm shocked MD doesn't make more national news w/the dumba$$ things we do here.
I guess FL is just more high-profile since every1 thinks of it as vacationland. ;-)
The truth is it is scary how FL has had so many weird things happening lately. I correct myself - not since the elections, but since Elian...or wait, since the German-tourist shootings....
As far as courts, it's beginning to rival the San Francisco area and 9th Circus in that regard.
Mega-dittos to that.
"We have to put up with "Sheets" everyday"
LOL
"Prettay prettay prettay prettay prettay"
"WrONg....WrONg"
Man, I love those Hannity clips on R KKK Byrd. I want them for my 'puter!
Hopefully, it won't be for a mug shot. I'll wager that the prosecutor in FL will get Rush charged as soon as possible. Because this guy is such a liberal Democrat hack, he will probably even try to deny bail to Rush on the grounds his frequent travels suggest a strong flight risk. He may even get a gag order to prevent Rush from broadcasting in case he taints the jury pool. The prosecutor is going to do every mean, nasty legal thing he can to Rush.
The doors are closing on Rush.
The filibusters affect all Floridians PLUS all Rush fans.
In today's political climate, seems like Rush is being "Delayed" and Delay is being "Rushed". The left hates both men because they are major stumbling blocks to their agenda. Pure politics of personal destruction.
Where's Hillary?
And .. I think this is just more PAYBACK to conservatives over wanting to reign in these courts.
Yes, I think it should go to a higher court.
Hopefully, it will go to highest court which might be so under pressure from public sentiment that it will rule correctly - stopping a police agency from FISHING for evidence in a person's medical records - and using a subpoena illegally, when no CHARGES have been lodged against the person.
Well .. aside from the testy attitude of the FL courts in general .. there is this knawing feeling in the pit of my stomach that some people on Hillary's side of the fence made a few phone calls to a few judges. I will always believe Hillary was behind this whole issue against Rush. The idea was to put him out of commission. And .. just like the attacks upon DeLay .. the dems want to shut down the conservative leaders; anybody who is in any way competition for the affections of the voters.
The list goes long here. This particular case could effect EVERY state however. My sensitivity over the "Floriduh" remarks is a little over done perhaps. I've even put on a tin foil hat lately thinking it's the media way of making our governor look bad, W's brother and all. (Still wouldn't put it past them)
I'll be fine, back to work.
One just has to look at the composition of the FSC and conclude it's the communist manifesto at it's best. NSNR
That would make a great tagline.:~)
