The next National Education Associations poster girl for increasing teacher salaries
To: stan_sipple
"It's hard to make it on the salary that they gave us,"Cry me a river. If you can't make a living on your current salary, then you have two options:
- Get a higher paying job
- go to a less lavish life style
If you can't get a higher paying job, then maybe you're only worth what you're getting paid now. It appears that she was going for option 1 and got caught.

I know $30,000 isn't what it used to be- but surely a single mom and young child can live on that? With child support, unless there's a non-existent father out there..
The victim staus is so chic these days, isn't it?

I make nothing like that and I stay honest. Hmmm... what kind of luxuries does she think that she needs?

I've seen people earning six figures who are in debt and struggling...it depends on your lifestyle and whether or not you can support it. Maybe this lady needs to cut back on a few things.

I have a sneeky feeling that someone was living outside their means.
Cell phone, cable, either higher rent for a house, eating out often, etc.

I know people with no college education making that much just doing mindless data entry.
Also, I feel that it's not too much to ask to pay our teachers well, after all they are responsible for the minds of some of our children.
With that said, I also believe that there should be no tenure for teachers.

This is crazy--her concern is to be able to get her son a haircut when he needs it. She doesn't seem to be concerned that her son is being raised by a criminal, though. What a role model she is for that son--and her second grade students.

Single dad, sole custody of his 12 year old daughter, making it on $27,000 a year. No child support, thanks to a dead-beat mom (she's only $7,800 in the hole). However, I'm a drug dealer for a living (I work for a pharmacy benefits manager that runs a mail order pharmacy).

How about a second job?
"There are some things that happen that shouldn't be happening," she said. "People are human."
Cortez doesn't know whether she'll seek another job while she is suspended with pay from Conestoga.
Right now, she is focused on keeping her son sheltered from the accusations.
"I'm not a bad person," she said. "I'm not what they're portraying me to be."

So she decides to supplement her income with a little blood money. Methamphetamine is a vicious drug that can break a person down. What excellent judgement by someone entrusted to teach young children.
She is so interested in caring for her son that she engaged in behavior that ensured he'll now be raised by someone else. Now, when she gets out of prison, I'm guessing she won't even be able to get a job making near as much as she had already been making. Dumb bunny.
