telepathy ping!
Empathy does not mean people are "mind readers." This is a misleading bunch of BS.
My wife can read my mind very easily.
Every time I do the dishes at night, she knows I am going to ask her for sex.
She is a mind reader, I tell you.
A regular Svengali.
This may well be but attempting to read the minds of those I work with is trying to read a blank page
I knew the author was going to write this article.
...And we all know that's a farce.
So this is why every time I see a nice looking women I hear "stay away, don`t try to talk to me" ringing in my ears.
Interesting article.
I can read my dachshunds' minds, and the cats, too...once in a while. Probably reading body language.
The article itself isn't BS, but the use of the metaphor of "mind reading" is misleading, inappropriate, absolutely pointless and exceedingly distracting.
A rather good article about empathy and autism was muddied up by the stupid and totally unnecessary use of a "mind reading" metaphor. Metaphor only works when it's clearly a metaphor. In this article the reader spends so much time wondering exactly what the author means by terms like "mind reading" and "telepathy" that the really insteresting points the article makes --- about empathizing with behavior we watch and about autistic people unable to do so --- are almost lost.
In an English composition class, I would give this article exactly a C.
A for content. F for delivery. C.
Okay everybody - what am I thinking?
Thanks for the ping. But ... somehow I think this may be more appropriate for the crop circle ping list than for mine. I'll wait to see if a demand builds up.
Mine throws a candy bar on my desk.
Right. How enlightening is it that people are capable of empathy, of understanding how others are feeling?
*slips into fire retardent suit*
LOL
It's always amazing to me when science tries to trump what we already know. Soon, the bookstores will be filled with books on how to read minds. Actually, it's a simple process, but it requires having the ability to kick off your own shoes before stepping into someone else's. That's too much work for most people.
If we can read minds and decipher motives, it's a wonder that scam artists do so well.
