I'm with you. I was excited to learn about DU's existence; I assumed that it would be a home for logical analysis under liberal dogma. Instead, I found the flaming, acrimony, cynicism and hate-America-firstness disturbing. What I found most disgusting was the lack of connection among the postings.

There are no threads of hundreds of posts, correcting, challenging and modifying what was said above. Instead, there's vituperative name-calling. It's all very atomistic, almost as if everyone who posts there believes that he is the center of the universe (imagine that).

I love the fact that they eat each other alive. Psuedointellectualism meets a consequence free environment....oh, wait! Forget it, the universities already have that niche covered.

Before being banned from that cesspool, I got in on a thread about how Freepers were fixated on DU. They were carrying on about how we were in awe of their mighty intellect and wonderful gift of debunking every conservative turn.

I piped in and said that I thought the Freepers were more like the spectators at a demolition derby. There are a lot more spectators than there are drivers and the spectators are there just to see a wreck. And most of the drivers have had major head injuries at some point.
