An immigration activist group is drawing attention to a photograph showing a billboard ad for a Spanish-language TV newscast in L.A. on which the "CA" abbreviation after "Los Angeles" has been crossed out and the word "Mexico" added in its place.

Several of us travel the 605 daily. It's real and not a prank. Look at the middle of the billboard. It has the Angel of Independence pon it. That's a monument in Mexico City. They superimposed a monument from Mexico City over L.A..

I predict O'Reilly will be one of those people.
I bet O'Reilly is vibrating about this already.

..the possibility the "Mexico" wasn't integral to the poster and was placed there by a later prankster?
This is the accurate billboard. The station bought about seventy of them around their broadcast area. My first thought, however, upon seeing those billboards is they are an invitation for vandalism.

I wouldn't worry. All of the productive people will move to Arizona, Oregon, etc and those economies will boom. Let Mexico have California -- within 6 months it will be a debt-ridden third world slum.

ClearChannel was already the most hated media conglomerate in the world. Now they have stepped one more step "lower" that the lowest.

They superimposed a monument from Mexico City over L.A.. And if my geography is correct, the 605 sign is just a few miles from where Deputy David March was murdered by a Mexican citizen.
What a kick in the teeth...

Several of us travel the 605 daily. It's real and not a prank I saw the one at Sherman Way and Woodley (mid SF-Valley), southeast corner, above the 7-11, facing north. It's definitely authentic and it is EXACTLY as the one depicted above. If vandals got to the signs, they defaced them absolutely identically -- which is basically impossible. If you go looking for it, make sure you get WoodLEY, not WoodMAN or WoodLAKE, which are also SFV north-south streets.
John & Ken (640 KFI-AM, which is also a Clear Channel station), raised hell about this on the air the other day, and have attempted to get hold of the Clear Channel coworker behind this treasonous stunt.

California was just the stepping stone. Illegal Mexicans are moving further north and east. As far from that border as they can get.

Someone should notify President Bush about this.
I'm sure he would like to put a stop to this illegal invasion, pronto.

I emailed it to John & Ken on Monday because I wasn't sure if they had heard about it yet. I also emailed Clear Channel.

It's already a debt ridden third world slum. Getting worse everyday. I am not too sure that Arizona or Ore. are going to fare much better. My old ladys home town of Hillsboro Ore. is now referred to as Hillsburrito if that tells you anything.
