All seven accused, including underworld don Aftab Ansari, who were convicted in the 2002 American Center Attack case in Kolkata have been sentenced to death.
A Kolkata court pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.
Dubai-based don Ansari, Jamiluddin Nasser, Rehan Alam, Adil Hasan, Musharat Hussain, Hasrat Alam and Shakir Aktar were convicted for murder, conspiracy and waging war against the country on Tuesday.
Aftab Ansari found guilty
Chief Judicial Magistrate Basudev Mazumdar ordered the release of two other accused in the case.
Two others, Dilip Patel and Shakil Mallick, were found not gulity and were directed to be released.
How is it that this country can get their trials done in a few years, and we in the US have to play around for 20 or more years? Something wrong with this picture.
Maybe we should consider outsourcing our judicial system.
No no, trials in India, especially those with a death sentence attached, take eons. For example, the last person to be executed was a condemned rapist, in 2004. His trial took over ten years.
