Center for Gender Equity makes some more equal than others

UCSF's Center for Gender Equity hosts its annual "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" on Thursday -- but judging from the list of activities being offered, the gender equity program is anything but equal.

For example, the 9- and 10-year-old daughters are being invited to participate in 17 hands-on activities such as working with microscopes, slicing brains, doing skull comparisons, seeing what goes on in the operating room, playing surgeon, dentist or nurse for a day, and visiting the intensive care unit nursery, where they can set up blood pressure cuffs and operate the monitors.

They can learn about earthquake and disaster preparedness, how to use a fire extinguisher, how to operate several types of equipment -- even fire a laser.

And what do the boys get to do?

Learn about "gender equity in fun, creative ways using media, role playing and group games"

LOL! Can you imagine the furor that would be raised if the events made available to the different "genders" were reversed?

Eh. Sounds like the boys are gonna have more fun, except for the fire lasers....

"role playing and group games"

Probably they will teach them how to play with dolls, wash the dishes, and take instructions from women.

I remember my Dad taking me to work with him some weekends, when I was about 7. He was an auto mechanic working for a Plymouth dealership. This was back in 1952.

I got to bring him tools, sweep up a little bit, help him hold things. Best of all, though, was the shop's locker room, which had many of those great old parts house calendars on the walls. You know the ones...Vargas girls and even less fully dressed girls.

Now that's the kind of "Take Your Child to Work Day" I can appreciate. Oddly, though, he didn't take my sister to work.

"So now the boys have their own gender sensitivity program, where "they learn about violence prevention and how to be allies to the girls and women in their lives," Levine said."

In other words, boys are being taught to back off and not compete with girls. When will these feminists wake up?

It would be wiser and more beneficial to society to have a "Bring Mommy Home for a Day" event. A day when she could reacquaint herself with her children and her home.

What a load of sexist crap!

No way would a boy of mine participate in such idiocy.

They can struggle against nature all they want. Males are stronger and more aggrssive. Deal with it.

There was a Simpsons episode a few weeks ago where they looked at the future. Lisa was able to get into Yale easier now that it had been made illegal to teach Science to boys.
