TV Turn Off Week: Turn Off Federal Funding for PBS
The National Ledger ^ | April 26, 2005 | Paul M. Weyrich

It was only ten years ago that House Republicans, particularly the freshmen swept into office in 1994, were dead-set on reducing funds for the Public Broadcasting Service [PBS]. Sesame Street’s “Big Bird” did not go the way of the dodo bird despite the best efforts of the “revolutionaries.” The PBS webpage states that 18% of its funding comes from its parent, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, federal grants and contracts. PBS continues receiving Federal subsidies despite the continued growth of cable and satellite networks, which broadcast quality programming to consumers. Undoubtedly much television broadcasting is indeed a vast wasteland but American citizens seeking quality programming can find it via the commercial market.

This only makes PBS’s latest venture one that is deserving of the outrage of Americans worried about how our young people are raised.

I read an article that states PBS makes a boatload of money from their cartoon shows. Plus they just got more millions from the widow of Ray Kroc.

Time to pull the plug, IMO....

Some people here complain that securing our southern border with a wall would be too expensive, but it could easily be paid for by defunding pbs, npr, the NEA, and the NEH.

Add in defunding amtrak and you can have ground penetrating radar and preset distances to monitor for people digging under the wall.

Add defunding the UN to that list and you can add Vulcan's tied to Ground Sureveillance Radars.
