Assuming he were able to stay conscious and capable after wrecking, I wonder if an inflatable raft would have been near by.

Assuming he could get out of the downed plane to begin with. Sounds like they haven't heard from his cell again. Furthermore, this has been a really cold spring and without a quick rescue, surviving a crash itself doesn't preclude that he wouldn't succumb to hypothermia.Bless him and his family.
