The only way they can impact crime rates is to make good arrests based on solid evidence presented before a good/wise judicial authority.

I would add: "...and shoot bad guys pointing guns at them or other people, tackle the ones that run from you and pepper-spray the obnoxious ones, in order to deter such behavior." ...but that's just me. :-)

I love the way she goes from courteous to pepper spray the microsecond she gets pissed off over the littlest thing. As for Garcia and Dankle and the rest of the cast, it's a fine show. The writers are brilliant. Have you seen Trailer Park Boyz on BBC America yet? It's spot on!

One could make a good living off you by running away every time they spot your police car. If you don't mind the sciatica or skinned knees, if you're clean with no record and have done nothing, it might be the next litigious cash cow.

I must admit my malicious streak in me though. Every time we hear of the locals chalking tires at the local bars, we run to the Piggly Wiggly and chalk all the cars. When the people show up in court with grocery receipts from Piggly Wiggly and their user profile proving it was them (those preferred customer cards have a use) and they couldn't have been at the local bars, it really screws up the cash flow that month for the district court.
