A doctor told of a child named female because that's what the mother saw on the birth certificate.

So much boils down to education.

I'm just getting up to speed on the story. I wonder if the mother has had any run ins with the law in the past.

I didn't watch the video.

I don't watch commercial TV.

But I'm a high school teacher just subbing these days.

This type of behavior at this age is totally unacceptable.

The fact that she sat down when the police appeared shows that she knows how to game the system.

The mother, and the father (wherever He is) is some of the major basis of the problem. There may be other factors... I don't know the whole background and neither does anyone else here.

All of this sets up a high probability that in the future this kid will be in serious trouble, and somebody is going to have to deal with it.

If the teachers hands are tied as they were in this case, there is little choice but to go to the police.

I was subbing a couple of months ago in a local high school when a girl in a class just keep talking to her friend, turning around, etc. She wasn't learning anything, but worse - she was obstructing the other students around her from learning. My standard take on this is that I can't MAKE someone learn, but I do have an obligation to prevent them from stopping others from learning. I got through that class that day. A few weeks later that same student was where I work my other job... a bouncer in a nightclub. She was someplace where she wasn't supposed to be, one of the other bouncers asked her to leave the area, when she didn't he lit into her calling her a 'dumb-ass' and chased her out of the area. She came back to me in a little while and complained about what the other bouncer had called her... I explained that this is the real world, not school, and when you do something stupid somebody is likely to call you 'stupid'! She didn't like that... but she had to think about it.

It's sad that they had to resort to handcuffs... but they had little choice.

And the film was to protect themselves from the inevitable lawsuits.... one can only hope that if it does go to court and they get to play the tape for the jury that the jury will see the reality of what the school was facing.
