I suppose that most of the really good ones have been told, in one form or another, since people were hunters & gatherers relaxing around campfires telling stories. The oldest ones return in different forms, but they generally carry universal values.

Aesop's fables are as entertaining and revealing of human nature today as they were when he wrote them.
