Floridian arrested after firing 5 rounds into hood
MIAMI - Fed up with his troublesome car, a Florida man fired five rounds from a semi-automatic pistol into the hood of the 1994 Chrysler LeBaron.
Im putting my car out of its misery, 64-year-old John McGivney said after the incident outside an apartment building in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, according to a police report that listed the car as deceased.
McGivney surrendered to police, was jailed on a firearms charge Friday and released on bond a day later. He told officers the car had been giving him trouble for years.

"a Florida man fired five rounds from a semi-automatic pistol into the hood of the 1994 Chrysler LeBaron."
Although it was irresponsible of him, I don't blame him, I used to work at a Chrysler dealership...you should see the silent recall stuff on some of these things...same holds true for other auto-makers too...
If you can't shoot your own car, What CAN you shoot? I still go through every day pretending I am a free man...'til they put me away.
That'll teach that stupid car!
Gee, if it had been an SUV they wouldn't have arrested him, they would have given him a medal.
Yeah, what harm was done here?
Now if he would have taken it out in the country where shooting was allow and did it there would have been no trouble.
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to bid farewell to our departed friend...
I live in the country I could walk out the door and fill any one of my vehicles with holes and no one would say a thing.
But if I did the same act in side a city limits I would have troubles.
He must have been a pretty good shot. Handgun rounds usually just make them mad.
I'm sure his neighbors didn't find anything funny at all about the rounds ricocheting off the engine block.
Ne mention in the article if alcohol was involved. I would be surprised if it wasn't.
This could merely serve to rile up the SUVs. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Shoot a hood, go to jail.
Was he charged with vehicular assault?
I used to feel like doing that to my computer.
I think every guy in the universe has wanted to do it, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Wednesday quoted McGivney as saying. It was worth every damn minute in that jail.
I *HAVE* done that to my computer! And my stereo!
Of course, I took them out to the woods and cleaned up the mess.
